Cookie Policy
Last updated: 12 August 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how KidHub ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies. It covers two separate parts of our Service:
- kidhub.co.uk — our marketing website (includes the cookie consent banner)
- app.kidhub.co.uk — the KidHub app itself (no consent banner — see section 2 for why)
It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
KidHub is currently operated by KidHub, a UK-based business (company registration in progress). Contact: kidhubteam@gmail.com.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let a site remember things about your visit — like whether you're logged in — or collect information about how the site is used.
We also use similar technologies such as local storage, which some browsers use to store data on your device (for example, the app's demo mode uses local storage instead of cookies — see section 4).
2. Legal basis for cookies — and why the banner is only on the website
Under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we need your consent before we set any cookie that isn't strictly necessary for the Site to function.
- kidhub.co.uk uses Google Analytics to understand website traffic. Since this isn't strictly necessary, you'll see a cookie banner here, and analytics only runs after you accept.
- app.kidhub.co.uk only sets one cookie — the Supabase authentication session that keeps you logged in. This is strictly necessary for the app to work, so it doesn't require consent and there's no banner in the app itself. The app does not currently use analytics or any other non-essential cookie.
- Strictly necessary cookies don't require consent — they're essential for things like keeping you logged in.
- Everything else (e.g. analytics) only loads after you give consent on the website, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.
3. Cookies we use
| Cookie / Storage | Where it applies | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Supabase auth session token | app.kidhub.co.uk | Supabase | Keeps you logged in to your KidHub account and securely identifies your session | Strictly necessary | Session / until logout or expiry |
__cf_bm, cf_clearance (as applicable) | kidhub.co.uk & app.kidhub.co.uk | Cloudflare | Bot protection and security filtering | Strictly necessary | Up to 30 minutes |
_ga, _ga_* | kidhub.co.uk only | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors, used to measure traffic and how the website is used | Analytics (requires consent) | Up to 2 years |
_gid | kidhub.co.uk only | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors (short-term) | Analytics (requires consent) | 24 hours |
_gat | kidhub.co.uk only | Google Analytics | Throttles request rate | Analytics (requires consent) | 1 minute |
Note: exact cookie names may vary slightly depending on your Google Analytics configuration (GA4 vs Universal Analytics). Update this table once GA is implemented to match what actually fires — check your browser's dev tools under Application → Cookies.
We do not currently use advertising or marketing cookies, and analytics is not used inside the app.
4. Local storage (demo mode)
If you use KidHub's demo mode without creating an account, your data (events, notes, clubs) is stored only in your browser's local storage and never sent to our servers. This isn't a cookie in the strict sense, doesn't identify you, and isn't shared with any third party. It's cleared if you clear your browser data.
5. Third parties who may set cookies
| Service | What it's used for | Their privacy/cookie info |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Authentication & database hosting (app.kidhub.co.uk) | supabase.com/privacy |
| Cloudflare | DNS, security, performance | cloudflare.com/cookie-policy |
| Render | Application hosting (app.kidhub.co.uk) | render.com/privacy |
| Google Analytics | Website usage analytics on kidhub.co.uk only, after consent | policies.google.com/technologies/cookies |
| Web3Forms | Processes our early-access signup form (kidhub.co.uk landing page) | web3forms.com/privacy |
6. Managing your consent
- On kidhub.co.uk, when you first visit, you can accept or reject non-essential cookies via the banner.
- You can change your mind at any time via Cookie Settings (placeholder — link this to whatever your developer builds to reopen the banner), or by clearing your cookies via your browser settings.
- You can also block or delete cookies directly through your browser settings — note this may affect how the Site works (e.g. you may be logged out of the app).
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as KidHub evolves — for example, if we add analytics inside the app in future. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
